SaaS & Modernization
Move Your SaaS Without Downtime
We move live SaaS products to new infrastructure, databases or platforms with rehearsed cutovers, data validation and a rollback plan that protects your customers.
Overview
SaaS Migration
A SaaS migration is different from moving an internal system because customers are using the product while you change it. Codemotives plans migrations around that reality: carefully inventorying what runs where, mapping dependencies, rehearsing cutovers on copies of production data and choosing a sequence that keeps the service available for paying customers.
Typical migrations include changing cloud providers, moving from a monolithic host to containers, switching databases, splitting a tenant base across regions or consolidating acquired products onto one platform. Each starts with an honest assessment of risk, and we recommend leaving some things alone whenever the migration cost clearly outweighs the benefit.
Context
Problems we solve
- 01
Downtime hurts customers
Subscribers expect the product to stay up. Cutovers have to be staged so the service remains available, or downtime is short and announced.
- 02
Data integrity risk
Moving data across schemas or engines can silently drop or alter records. Every migration needs reconciliation checks, not just a successful copy.
- 03
Hidden dependencies
Cron jobs, webhooks, DNS entries and third-party allowlists are easy to forget until something breaks after cutover.
- 04
No clear rollback path
If the new environment misbehaves, teams need a tested way back. Many plans only describe the forward direction.
Capabilities
What we deliver
- 01
Migration assessment
We inventory services, data stores and integrations, then recommend a migration approach with risks and sequence spelled out.
- 02
Data migration and validation
Scripted, repeatable data moves with row counts, checksums and sampling to confirm nothing was lost or changed.
- 03
Staged cutover plans
Tenant-by-tenant or traffic-percentage rollouts using replication, dual writes or blue-green setups where appropriate.
- 04
Rehearsals and rollback
Full dry runs on production-like data and a documented rollback procedure that is tested before the real cutover.
- 05
Infrastructure as code
The target environment is defined in code so it is reproducible, reviewable and easier to recover.
- 06
Post-migration monitoring
Dashboards and alerts covering the first weeks after cutover, when subtle problems tend to show up.
Where it fits
- Moving from shared hosting to a managed cloud
- Switching between AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
- Replacing a database engine under a live product
- Moving customers into a new region
- Merging two acquired SaaS products

- GitHub Actions
Approach
How we deliver
- 1
Discover
We learn your goals, users, constraints and existing systems before proposing anything.
- 2
Plan
Scope, priorities, architecture and milestones are agreed so everyone knows what ships when.
- 3
Design
User flows, interfaces and technical design are shaped and reviewed with you early.
- 4
Build
Work is delivered in short iterations with regular demos, so progress is always visible.
- 5
Test
Functional, integration and performance checks run throughout, not only at the end.
- 6
Launch & support
We deploy, monitor and keep improving the product after it goes live.
FAQs
Common questions
Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.
Can you migrate with zero downtime?
Sometimes, using replication and gradual traffic shifts, but it is not always practical or worth the cost. We design for the lowest disruption your product needs and tell you honestly where a short maintenance window is the safer option.
How is this different from application migration?
This page is about live, multi-customer SaaS products where continuity, tenant data and rollback matter most. Broader application moves are covered in our application migration and cloud migration services, and we can combine them when needed.
Will you need access to production data?
Migration work usually requires controlled access to production systems. We work under NDAs, use least-privilege access, and can do rehearsals on masked or anonymized copies where your policies require it.
What drives migration cost and duration?
Data volume, number of integrations, how much the target architecture differs from the source, and how strict your availability needs are. Cleaning up undocumented systems before moving them often adds more effort than the move itself.
