Modern Swift Engineering

Swift is the language, and we use it well. Our team writes safe, readable Swift with modern concurrency and architecture that keeps apps easy to change.

Overview

Swift

Swift is Apple's modern, compiled language for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. Its strong type system, optionals, value types and protocol-oriented design catch many classes of bugs at compile time, while async/await and actors give a structured way to handle concurrency without callback tangles. The language is open source and evolves through a public proposal process, so staying current matters.

This page is about the language and the engineering discipline around it. We follow Swift API design guidelines, favor small, testable types, apply patterns such as MVVM or a unidirectional state model where they help, and use Swift Package Manager to modularize code. We can also share Swift logic across Apple platforms or modernize an Objective-C codebase step by step.

Context

Why teams choose it

  • 01

    Safety by design

Optionals, strong typing and exclusive access rules prevent many crashes before the code ever runs.

  • 02

    Readable, expressive code

Swift's concise syntax and clear naming conventions make codebases easier to review and onboard into.

  • 03

    Structured concurrency

async/await, task groups and actors simplify networking and background work compared with nested completion handlers.

  • 04

    Reuse across Apple platforms

Business logic written in Swift can be shared across iOS, macOS, watchOS and even server-side targets.

Capabilities

What we build with it

  1. 01

    SwiftUI and UIKit interfaces

Declarative SwiftUI screens, with UIKit interop where finer control or older OS support is required.

  2. 02

    Modular architecture

Feature modules and Swift packages with clear boundaries, dependency injection and protocol-based abstractions.

  3. 03

    Objective-C migration

Incremental conversion of legacy code, with bridging headers and tests guarding behavior along the way.

  4. 04

    Concurrency and networking

Typed API clients, Codable models, async streams and careful cancellation and error handling.

  5. 05

    Unit and UI testing

XCTest and the Swift Testing framework, plus snapshot and UI tests for critical flows.

  6. 06

    Server-side Swift

Lightweight services and shared models using Swift on the server where it makes sense.

Typical projects

  • Modernizing an Objective-C app
  • Shared code across iOS and macOS
  • Apps needing strict reliability
  • Swift package libraries and SDKs
  • Companion watchOS and widget targets

Ecosystem & tooling

Approach

How we work with it

  1. 1

    Assess

We review your goals and any existing code to decide where this technology fits best.

  2. 2

    Architect

We plan structure, integrations, data flow and hosting before writing production code.

  3. 3

    Build

Features ship in small, reviewed increments with automated checks along the way.

  4. 4

    Release & maintain

We deploy, monitor and keep dependencies and versions up to date.

FAQs

Common questions

Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.

Is Swift better than Objective-C?

For new Apple development Swift is the standard choice, offering better safety and a more modern toolset. Objective-C remains fully supported, and many large apps mix both while migrating gradually.

Can Swift be used outside Apple devices?

Yes, Swift runs on Linux and Windows and is used for server-side frameworks such as Vapor. The richest ecosystem is still on Apple platforms, so we choose it for the backend only when there is a clear reason.

SwiftUI or UIKit?

SwiftUI is faster for building new interfaces and is Apple's direction, but UIKit still offers more control and works on older OS versions. We often combine them, choosing per screen.

Can you review our existing Swift code?

We can audit architecture, concurrency use, test coverage and dependency health, then give you a prioritized list of improvements rather than a blanket rewrite.
