Does It Do What It Should

We verify that every feature behaves as the requirements say, across normal use, edge cases and error conditions, with results you can trace.

Overview

Functional Testing

Functional testing answers one question: does the software do what it was meant to do? We read requirements and user stories, flag gaps or ambiguities, and write test cases covering expected behavior, boundary values, invalid input and error handling. Each case is traceable to a requirement. Traceability makes it simple to show exactly what was verified and what was not.

Execution combines scripted test cases with exploratory sessions, since real users rarely follow the happy path. We test business rules, form validation, permissions, workflows and data handling, and report results in terms your product owners understand. We also support user acceptance testing, helping business teams verify the release. This gives stakeholders confidence before release.

Context

Problems we solve

  • 01

    Ambiguous requirements

Unclear specs lead to disagreements about what is a bug. We clarify expected behavior before testing starts.

  • 02

    Missed edge cases

Defects hide at boundaries and unusual inputs. We design cases for limits, invalid data and rare paths.

  • 03

    Role and permission errors

Users seeing or changing the wrong things is serious. We test each role against what it should allow.

  • 04

    Acceptance confusion

Business teams often lack structure for UAT. We prepare scenarios and support their review sessions.

Capabilities

What we deliver

  1. 01

    Requirement analysis

We review specs and stories for testability, gaps and contradictions before writing cases.

  2. 02

    Test case design

We write cases covering positive, negative and boundary scenarios linked to requirements.

  3. 03

    Workflow and business rule testing

We verify multi-step processes, calculations and rules behave correctly end to end.

  4. 04

    Role-based testing

We check permissions and visibility for each user type across the application.

  5. 05

    Exploratory sessions

We run time-boxed sessions to uncover issues that scripted cases would not catch.

  6. 06

    UAT support

We prepare scenarios and data and help business users record and triage their findings.

Where it fits

  • Verifying a new feature before release
  • Testing complex business rules and calculations
  • Checking role-based access in an enterprise app
  • Supporting user acceptance testing
  • Validating forms and data entry flows

Technologies we use

  • Jira
  • TestRail
  • Zephyr
  • Postman
  • BrowserStack
  • Excel
  • Confluence
  • Cucumber

Approach

How we deliver

  1. 1

    Discover

We learn your goals, users, constraints and existing systems before proposing anything.

  2. 2

    Plan

Scope, priorities, architecture and milestones are agreed so everyone knows what ships when.

  3. 3

    Design

User flows, interfaces and technical design are shaped and reviewed with you early.

  4. 4

    Build

Work is delivered in short iterations with regular demos, so progress is always visible.

  5. 5

    Test

Functional, integration and performance checks run throughout, not only at the end.

  6. 6

    Launch & support

We deploy, monitor and keep improving the product after it goes live.

FAQs

Common questions

Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.

How is functional testing different from general QA?

Functional testing is one slice of QA focused on whether features meet their specified behavior. General QA also includes performance, security, usability and process concerns.

Do you need full documentation to start?

Not necessarily. We can work from user stories, prototypes or by exploring the product, then document expected behavior with your team as we go.

Will you test on our staging environment?

Yes, we typically test in a staging or test environment with representative data. We avoid testing destructive scenarios on live systems unless you explicitly agree.
