Firebase Backends, Fast

Firebase gives apps a managed backend without servers to run. We design the data, security rules and functions so it scales without surprises.

Overview

Firebase

Firebase is Google's app development platform, combining Authentication, Cloud Firestore and Realtime Database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Hosting, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config and Analytics. For mobile and web apps it removes much of the backend setup and provides real-time sync and offline support through its client SDKs. Many teams use it to launch a first version quickly, then grow into it or around it.

Firebase works best when it is planned. Firestore is a document database that charges per read and write, so data models and queries must be designed around cost and access patterns. Security rules enforce access directly from the client and need rigorous testing. We structure collections, write and test rules with the emulator suite, build Cloud Functions for server logic, and are honest about when a custom backend is the better long-term fit.

Context

Why teams choose it

  • 01

    Backend without servers

Authentication, database, storage and hosting are managed services, so small teams can ship quickly.

  • 02

    Real-time and offline sync

Client SDKs update data live and cache it locally, which suits collaborative and mobile apps.

  • 03

    Integrated app services

Push messaging, analytics, crash reporting and remote config work together in one console.

  • 04

    Scales with usage

Managed infrastructure handles growth, with pricing based on usage.

Capabilities

What we build with it

  1. 01

    Authentication

Email, phone, social and enterprise sign-in, with custom claims for roles.

  2. 02

    Firestore modeling

Collections, indexes and queries designed for performance and predictable cost.

  3. 03

    Security rules

Granular access rules, tested with the Firebase Emulator Suite before release.

  4. 04

    Cloud Functions

Server-side logic for triggers, webhooks, scheduled jobs and third-party integrations.

  5. 05

    Messaging and analytics

Push notifications, in-app messaging, event tracking and Remote Config experiments.

  6. 06

    Hosting and CI

Web hosting, preview channels and deployment pipelines for web and mobile apps.

Typical projects

  • MVPs and prototypes for new products
  • Chat and collaborative apps
  • Mobile apps needing push and analytics
  • Real-time dashboards
  • Admin tools on a managed backend

Approach

How we work with it

  1. 1

    Assess

We review your goals and any existing code to decide where this technology fits best.

  2. 2

    Architect

We plan structure, integrations, data flow and hosting before writing production code.

  3. 3

    Build

Features ship in small, reviewed increments with automated checks along the way.

  4. 4

    Release & maintain

We deploy, monitor and keep dependencies and versions up to date.

FAQs

Common questions

Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.

Is Firebase suitable for production apps?

Yes, many production apps run on it. Success depends on careful data modeling, tested security rules and cost monitoring, since reads and writes are billed.

Firestore or Realtime Database?

Firestore offers richer queries and better scaling and is the usual choice for new projects. Realtime Database can suit very simple, low-latency sync use cases.

Will we be locked in to Google?

Firebase is a proprietary platform, so moving off it means reworking the data layer and auth. We keep business logic separated from SDK calls where practical to reduce that effort.

Can Firebase handle complex relational data?

It is not designed for joins or heavy relational reporting. For those needs we pair it with BigQuery or choose a relational backend instead.
