Backend

Node.js Backends Built for Load

We build Node.js backends for products that need fast I/O, real-time features and a single language across the stack. From first API to production scale, we keep the code lean and maintainable.

Overview

Node.js

Node.js runs JavaScript on the server with an event-driven, non-blocking model, which makes it a strong fit for APIs, streaming, chat, dashboards and anything that spends its time waiting on networks and databases. Teams that already work in JavaScript or TypeScript can share models, validation and tooling between client and server.

At Codemotives we treat Node.js as a platform for well-structured services, not just scripts. We design clear module boundaries, use TypeScript where it pays off, keep CPU-heavy work off the event loop, and set up logging, health checks and automated tests so what we ship is easy to run and easy to change.

Context

Why teams choose it

  • 01

    One language everywhere

Sharing JavaScript or TypeScript between frontend and backend reduces context switching and lets teams reuse types, validation and utilities.

  • 02

    Efficient concurrent I/O

The event loop handles many simultaneous connections well, which suits APIs, WebSockets and services that wait on databases or third parties.

  • 03

    Huge package ecosystem

npm offers mature libraries for almost every integration, so teams spend time on product logic instead of plumbing.

  • 04

    Quick iteration

Lightweight tooling and fast startup make Node.js a good match for MVPs and teams that ship often.

Capabilities

What we build with it

  1. 01

    REST and GraphQL APIs

We design versioned, documented APIs with authentication, validation and consistent error handling.

  2. 02

    Real-time applications

Chat, live notifications, collaborative editing and dashboards built on WebSockets or server-sent events.

  3. 03

    Microservices

Small, independently deployable services with queues, retries and clear contracts between them.

  4. 04

    Legacy upgrades

We move older Node apps to current LTS versions, replace abandoned packages and add TypeScript step by step.

  5. 05

    Performance tuning

Profiling, caching, connection pooling and worker threads to remove event-loop bottlenecks.

  6. 06

    Support and maintenance

Dependency updates, security patches and monitoring so production stays healthy.

Typical projects

  • Public and partner REST APIs

Approach

How we work with it

  1. 1

    Assess

We review your goals and any existing code to decide where this technology fits best.

  2. 2

    Architect

We plan structure, integrations, data flow and hosting before writing production code.

  3. 3

    Build

Features ship in small, reviewed increments with automated checks along the way.

  4. 4

    Release & maintain

We deploy, monitor and keep dependencies and versions up to date.

FAQs

Common questions

Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.

Is Node.js a good choice for CPU-intensive work?

Not by default. Heavy computation can block the event loop, so we move it to worker threads, a job queue or a separate service in a language better suited to the task. Node.js stays the right layer for I/O-bound API work.

Should we use plain Node.js, Express or NestJS?

Express is minimal and flexible, which suits small services. NestJS adds structure, dependency injection and conventions that help larger teams keep big codebases consistent. We pick based on team size and how long the system needs to live.

Can you upgrade our old Node.js application?

Yes. We audit dependencies, move to a supported LTS release, replace unmaintained packages and add tests around critical paths before changing behavior. Upgrades are done in small steps so the app keeps running.

Do you use TypeScript with Node.js?

In most new projects, yes. Static types catch a lot of mistakes early and make refactoring safer. We can also work in plain JavaScript if your team prefers it.
