Shopify Store Customization

Targeted changes to an existing Shopify store: sections, product pages, navigation and speed, done in ways that survive theme updates.

Overview

Shopify Store Customization

Many stores do not need a rebuild, just careful changes. Codemotives customizes Shopify themes by adding custom sections, improving product pages, refining collections, building bundles and fixing layout or speed problems, working in Liquid and Online Store 2.0 patterns so editors can use the changes in the theme editor. Each change is scoped small, so you see progress and results quickly.

We start with an audit of your theme and installed apps, since slowdowns usually come from stacked apps and legacy code. Changes are made on a duplicate theme, tested and then published, with version control for rollback. Where a requirement goes beyond theme work, we say so and suggest an app or a platform step like Shopify Plus.

Context

Problems we solve

  • 01

    Theme limits

Your theme cannot do what you need. We add sections and blocks that fit its structure.

  • 02

    App overload

Too many apps slow the store. We replace some with lean native code where sensible.

  • 03

    Risky edits

Editing a live theme can break sales. We use duplicates, version control and test checkout.

  • 04

    Hard-to-edit custom code

Hardcoded changes frustrate merchants. We build sections editable in the theme editor.

FAQs

Common questions

Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.

Will customization break future theme updates?

We structure changes as separate sections and snippets and keep them in version control, which makes updates easier. Some theme updates still need manual merging.

Can you change checkout?

Checkout changes depend on your Shopify plan and current rules. Shopify controls what is possible, and we tell you what is supported before starting.

Do you work on our live store?

Not directly. We work on a duplicate theme, test it with you and then publish.
