Backend Developers
Zend and Laminas Developers
Developers experienced with Zend Framework and Laminas who maintain enterprise PHP applications and plan their migration forward.
Overview
Hire Zend Developers
Zend Framework was a widely used enterprise PHP framework that moved to the Linux Foundation in 2019 and was renamed Laminas. Many long-lived business systems still run Zend Framework 1 or 2, and Laminas continues as a modular set of components and the Mezzio microframework. These applications often carry years of business logic worth preserving.
Our developers maintain and extend Zend and Laminas applications, replace abandoned packages and plan upgrades. Moving from Zend Framework 1 is a significant effort, so we assess options, including incremental migration to Laminas, Mezzio or another framework, and work with tests to protect behavior along the way. Our developers document decisions and hand over knowledge, so your team is never dependent on one person.
Context
When to hire
- 01
You run Zend Framework 1
It is unsupported and tied to older PHP versions, which raises both risk and cost over time.
- 02
The system is business-critical
Careful, test-backed changes matter more than speed in long-lived enterprise code.
- 03
You are choosing a path forward
Laminas, Mezzio or a different framework each have trade-offs worth weighing with someone who knows the code.
- 04
In-house Zend knowledge is thin
Few developers learn Zend today, so specialists can fill a real gap.

FAQs
Common questions
Have a question that is not covered here? Get in touch.
Is Zend still supported?
Zend Framework 1 is not. Laminas is the maintained continuation, so we generally recommend planning a move if you run older Zend versions.
Do we have to migrate everything at once?
No. Staged migration, module by module, is often safer and lets the business keep operating.
How do you minimize risk?
We add tests around critical behavior first, then migrate in small steps with regular reviews with your team.
